The "not-to-miss" terraces in Bordeaux for the fall 2019

Published the 09/19/2019 in Our Best Adresses

The indian summer is great for the grapes, but let’s not forget to take time to enjoy the last bit of sun as well… I have selected the spots that should not be missed if you want to benefit from the last summer glow before the darker days of November.

In Bordeaux

Le Rooftop of the Grand Hotel.

Le Rooftop, located on the top floor of the Grand Hotel, offers a breathtaking view of the Golden Triangle: Cours de l’Intendance, Tourny and Grand Theatre. It is a popular place for sunsets, and the perfect stop for a drink after a day of sightseeing or shopping in the city!

The Rooftop is open every day from 12:00 to 14:30 for lunch and every evening from 19:00 to 1:00 from 21 March to 18 October. From October 19, the Rooftop will open its doors on Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 7pm to 9pm until December 1, also depending on the weather.

La Guinguette Chez Alriq

On the right bank of Bordeaux, the guinguette Chez Alriq probably offers one of the most beautiful views of the Garonne in a laid-back atmosphere. With a terrace facing west this is a classic spot for “apero” and sunset. Perfect for a snack and a drink with friends. You can continue the evening with music thanks to the regularly scheduled concerts.

Open from 19:00, Thursday to Sunday

La Cité du Vin - Brasserie Latitude 20 or Les Halles de Bacalan

Have a drink in the heart of “les Jardins Sauvages” ( the wild gardens), on the bank of the Garonne. The terrace of the brasserie Latitude 20 is located just behind the Cité du Vin. It is open non-stop from 12pm to 7.30pm, and it is a perfect place for cooler days as it has a great exposure. And if you wish to extend the evening, we recommend the Halles de Bacalan just in front of the Cité du Vin, perfect for brunches, lunches as well.

L’Apollo Bar

Located on Place Fernand-Lafargue, one of the most pleasant and emblematic squares in the city of Bordeaux, the Apollo Bar is a must-see stopover and a great Bordeaux classic frequented by many locals. Beer, wine, cocktails or coffee, there is something for everyone at any time of the day. The bar is open every day from 11:30 am until late at night, except on Sundays.

"In Bordeaux, terrasses are open all year round, so if the sun is out on a winter day, take a warm jacket and wool scarf and sip your cup of coffee or glass of wine under the soothing winter sun"

In the vineyards

Le Saprien or La Chapelle de Guiraud in Sauternes

After a day observing the harvest in the Sauternes region, Le Saprien and La Chapelle de Guiraud offer great opportunities to have lunch or dinner in a rural atmosphere, with the vineyards as a panoramic view. Enjoy the view, and do not forget to taste the magic of "noble rot" with a local grand cru.

The Chapelle de Guiraud is open everyday for lunch and in the evening from Tuesday to Saturday.

Le Saprien is open from Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner (closed between 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm)
